Amigurumi

(編み包み ?, lit. Knitted stuffed toy) is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals and anthropomorphic creatures. The word is derived from a combination of the Japanese words ami, meaning crocheted or knitted, and nuigurumi, meaning stuffed doll.[1] Amigurumi are typically cute animals (such as bears, rabbits, cats, dogs, etc.), but can include inanimate objects endowed with anthropomorphic features. Amigurumi can be either knitted or crocheted. In recent years crocheted amigurumi are more popular and more commonly seen.
Amigurumi are usually crocheted or knitted out of yarn. The simplest designs are worked in spirals. In contrast to typical Western crochet the rounds are not usually joined. They are also worked with a smaller size hook in proportion to the weight of the yarn in order to create a very tight-looking fabric without any gaps through which the stuffing might escape. Amigurumi are usually worked in sections and then joined, except for some amigurumi which have no limbs, only a head and torso which are worked as one piece. The extremities are sometimes stuffed with plastic pellets to give them a life-like weight, while the rest of the body is stuffed with fiber stuffing.
The pervading aesthetic of amigurumi is cuteness. To this end, typical amigurumi animals have an over-sized spherical head on a cylindrical body with undersized extremities.

Fruit Skins are not a Waste

Fruit Skins are not a Waste

We live in a tropical country which is enriched with many kinds of vegetabled and fruits. Not only do the fruits keep us healthy, its skins also have a wide range of uses.

Banana

Clean the banana skin and rub it on your hands, elbows, ankles and legs. It will keep your skin soft, supple and moisturized. You can use the banana skin to polish the shoes as well.

Durian

Sun-dried durian skins can be used as a fuel. In addition, when your hand or mouth smells of durian, you can get rid of the smells with water soaked with the durian skin.

Pomelo
Pomelo skin can be preserved in sugar and eaten as a preserved fruit. The skin helps relieve dizziness. Moreover, we can use the pomelo skin to scrub and polish aluminum kitchen utensils. Chop the skin into little pieces and boil them for 20 minutes.Polish with soap. Then you’ll get a shiny and sparking kitchenware.

Pineapple

Leave the pineapple skin in water. Soak the brass/silverware overnight and clean them with water. Your brass/silverware will look brand new again.

Orange

Light the sun-dried orange skins to keep off the mosquitoes.

Watermelon

The green watermelon skin is one good ingredient in tamarind soup. The watermelon skin can be mixed in various kinds of Thai spicy soup and used as vegetable.
